News has just broken that Oscar Pistorius has won his appeal to compete in the Beijing Olympics! It doesn’t give him automatic entry – he’ll need to run a 400m qualifier in 45.55 seconds (his paralympic world record currently stands at 46.56 seconds).

Read more about it here. Watch him run here.

Best of luck, Oscar – we’re behind you all the way.

THE COMPANY WE KEEP

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. By now you have probably heard that our own Oscar Pistorius came in at number 23 of Times’ list of The World’s Most Influential People. In the category Heroes and Pioneers, nogal. Of course we couldn’t resist pointing out our connection to him …

No one in our team who had the privilege of working with Oscar in preparation for the Nike launch is actually surprised – only happy to see that he’s getting such wide recognition. Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind person to conquer Mount Everest, wrote the article on Oscar. He sums it up very well: “It’s too easy to credit Pistorius’ success to technology. Through birth or circumstance, some are given certain gifts, but it’s what one does with those gifts, the hours devoted to training, the desire to be the best, that is at the true heart of a champion.” Click here to read the full article & here to see the photos Warren van Rensburg took of Oscar for the Nike Be True exhibition.
