VHS AND THE BALD BRUSH

VHS is a street artist who lives and works in London and Lisbon. He is currently studying in London and has, at a young age, already exhibited in Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid, Wroclaw, London and Los Angeles.

He is a staunch ambassador for street art and works to gain even more recognition for this exciting medium. When he first discovered graffiti at the age of 13, he did not imagine himself years later broadening the limits, breaking down the barriers of expressivity, blending languages, innovating tools and media in street art and raising its status to a serious contemporary graphic and artistic language.

This has been one of his greatest achievements. His ongoing projects include urban requalification work in degraded districts around Lisbon, developed together with the local communities.

PFADFINDEREI AND THE MODESELEKTOR

“We wanted to show the spirit of a great soccer game in a video & sound loop that shows the mood whenever the moderator is calling a players name on the advertising panel”. Pfadfinderei on their multi media installation, Modeselektor.

pfadfinderei.JPG

Pfadfinderei is an international operating design bureau. From the production of visual marketing tools to the visualisation of events, Pfadfinderei offers a work range that crosses the borders between functional design demands and advanced multimedia art.

Finding and visualizing paths was the approach that led to the name Pfadfinderei (Pathfinders or Boyscouts) in 1998. What started in Berlin as a vector orientated print design bureau expanded soon to what you might call an enhanced multimedia wurstfabrik. Nowadays, Pfadfinderei is structured in three main divisions: corporate design, production and installation.

+41 AND THE “HOLYGAME”

We wanted to create an installation reflecting on the holiness of sport shoes, by using only shoes, laces and a ball.” +41 on their installation.

+41 is //DIY’s fashion brand which was set up in 2001. Its name is a reference to the international dialling code of Switzerland, in an attempt to establish a solid Swiss identity. The brand explores new ways to combine easily wearable clothes and printed and embroidered visuals derived from their graphic worlds.

Since 2001, their clothes are distributed in selected shops around the world. Always on the lookout for new ideas, the Swiss studio is working on what we call “the graphic design in the expanded field.” Their qualifications include art direction, photography, illustration, music, fashion design, chocolate and video.

AT THE CORE

His describes his winning sculpture “The Core”, as an exploration of how important football could be in our lives, approaching the point where it serves as a substitute for religion for some.

soderstam.JPG

His winning Euro 1/1 entry can possibly be seen as emblematic of his career to date: decidedly radical & almost always successful. While still a student at the prestigious Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, Patrik Söderstam launched his career in fashion by selling his first collections in Japan.

Today his clothes are available at avant-garde fashion stores all over the world, have appeared in Madonna’s videos and have earned him awards from some of the world’s most fashionable fashion magazines. And whether he likes it or not, he has become one of the favourite pets of Sweden’s A-list fashionistas - and for those who claim to Understand.
