He started his career as a graphic and graffiti artist in the early 90s, before moving to film and video. As a director he created music promos for Italian bands such as Casino Royale, Neffa, Carmen Consoli, Alex Britti and 99 Posse. In 1999 he founded a collective for audio-visual experimentation that drew together videomakers, photographers, illustrators and musicians.

Since then he has explored the frontiers of live electronics and audio visual installations, constantly crossing between his personal artistic research and commercial projects. He has worked in partnership for brands such as Breil, BMW, Heineken, Gas, Strenesse, Pirelli, MTV and Collchristian Fennesz.

BOXIE AND THE PAINTING

Boxie (Marco Van Boxtel) lives and works in Amsterdam, unafraid of ‘the empty white space’ that plagues many artists, declaring that he needs the emptiness and space to purge his creative energy.

Since 1992 he has been working continuously on his impressive oeuvre, starting with brush and canvas, soon approaching spray cans and markers. He has exhibited internationally, worked with brands including Nike and FBTO and also collaborates with a street art collective called Kwasten met de Gasten in his native Amsterdam.

DOMINIC WILCOX AND THE TOP CORNER

Taking the silhouette of a footballer kicking a ball I recreated the form by gluing together hundreds of plastic footballers, which was certainly a challenge. It became almost a meditative process.” Dominic Wilcox on his sculpture, “Top Corner”.

After graduating, Dominic Wilcox moved to Japan for a year before returning to the UK to study an MA at the Royal College of Art. During this 2 year period of intensive critical debate and creative experimentation he developed a series of objects including War Bowl, Honesty Stamps and Glove.

After leaving the RCA in 2002, he started a collaboration with fellow RCA graduate Steve Mosley called Mosley Meets Wilcox. One major MMW project was a collaboration with rock photographer Mick Rock which ended in a collection of objects exhibited in Sept 2004. In 2006 Dominic went solo, and is currently developing new work, experiments and ideas.

GARETH PUGH AND THE ROKER ROAR

Gareth Pugh was born in football-loving Sunderland, and the so-called Roker Roar of the home team supporters was an integral part of his childhood landscape, supplying both the name and the inspiration for his interpretation of the ‘Art of Football’.

His inflatable installation in the colours of the home team pays homage to his heritage while staying true to his signature inflated balloon garments, his outlandish clubwear and his novel approach to redefining modern luxury.

Pugh has collaborated with magazines including Arena Homme+, Self Service, Cent, I-D and Dazed & Confused. In 2004, Pugh’s ‘inflatable creatable’ installation was chosen as the sculptural centre piece for a Dazed & Confused exhibition, showcasing designers including Stella McCartney, D&G and Hussein Chalayan.
