DISCO BALLS IN THE SOLES OF HER SHOES

No, you’re not blinded by the light but by the sheer awesomeness of the new Women’s Nike Dunk High with an all silver metallic leather upper.

Featuring a disco-ball kind of sequined side panel with a Metallic silver swoosh, an outsole in a Neutral grey and a white midsole with white stitching, these puppies are just begging to be let out on the dance floor.

Couple them with a pair of these new metallic black, gold and silver leggings hitting the streets and an XL top and you’ll look as though you’ve just stepped out of an 80’s music video. But cooler, obviously.

Otherwise, try them with skinnies, high-waisted skirts and leggings or a sexy evening dress and shizaam, hotness.

GALLERY LAUNCHES CAPEBURG

A revolutionary shoe deserves a great campaign to back it up. So with this in mind, Nike Sportswear ran a global campaign around this icon. This was the birth of the IAM1 Journey that took us into the lives of revolutionaries from London, Paris, Milan, Amsterdam and Berlin.

Now its South Africa’s turn. It proved very difficult to choose between Cape Town and Johannesburg, both phenomenal cities within their own right. This meant that Sanele Xolo, Ed Collin and Kemi Benjamin had to cook up a mix masala of the two cities naming it Cape/Burg.

This meant that Nike SA had a greater pool of revolutionaries to choose from. Choosing individuals that are game changers in their respective fields. The likes of House DJ, DJ Euphonik, slam poet Katleho Shoro, photographer Musa Nxumalo, steeplechase athlete, Ruben Ramolefi, Sneaker Pimp, Dr. Zulu, Xhosa Hip Hop MC, Rattex, Jazz outfit, Kwani Experience, footballer Siphiwe Tshabalala, Artist spo0ky and celebrated graffiti artist Rasty!

Their stories come together in the limited edition book called Cape/Burg (a very innovative book in terms of layout). Like any good Glomail ad, this is our opportunity to add that ‘wait, that’s not all’. There are other extras included in the book like the collaboration by DJ Euphonik and Katleho Shoro’s poem, ‘Remember Me’ in the form of a House track (listen to the poem if you call this number: 078 119 5181 for the Cape Town section of the poem and 078 107 4044 for the Jozi section).

The launch event was held at none other than Gallery on 4th. For some background info on CapeBurg check this out

VANDALISM: THE “FUTURA” OF ART.

Some call them vandals, some call them artists; either way, graffiti and street artists have made an indefinable impact on our culture. And an artist who has been at the forefront from the very beginning is FUTURA 2000. He started in the early eighties with the likes of SEEN and ZEPHRY in New York when the graffiti movement was still fresh and new.

He knew graffiti isn’t just about writing your name on walls and his work is testimony to this: he has translated the energy of street art into the art and design world as well as street wear with collaborations with Nike and MAHARISHI to name a few. Galleries around the world have had the honour of exhibiting his work and his signature is well known within the global street wear community.

Check him doing his thing in the video below, shot by Reudione.

STILL DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE?!

For those cheap skates out there who have not bought this month’s issue of HYPE (only the no. 1 Hip Hop magazine in the country!), here are a couple of shots…  And yes, that is our very own Mome and Ricky Rick in the fashion photoshoot. Duh. They are awesome.
