WOMEN GO WILD WITH THE AIR MAX 1 “SAFARI”

Safari never ceases to amaze and this time they’ve brought out a pair of kicks sure to bring out the inner Amazonian. Ladies, we’d like to introduce you to the Womens’ Nike Air Max 1.

These babies come with white laces, a white soft leather mudguard and white mesh on the toebox, tongue and ankle. A white felt, like a fur pelt, caresses the swoosh, midsole and outsole. The glass blue inner lining roars like a warrior while the black and white safari pattern on the sides and the heel brings a snarl to my lips and leaves my hand pawing at the air. Rrrr…

THE AIR MAX 1 QS: BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER

The iconic Air Max has returned. Cue the hero music: bum bum ba bum…

This revolutionary design by Tinker Hatfield took its cues from the controversial Centre Pompidou in Paris. When most buildings in Paris were dressed conservatively from head to toe, with not even an ankle showing, this building was baring all; its insides and mechanical bits were all brightly tarted up and exposed for all to see.

Released in 1987, the Air Max 1 featured a “big hole in the midsole” and was the first Nike shoe with visible “Air technology.” It shook the running world to its core. Since then, the descendents have been as prolific as Viagra-dosed bunnies: Air 180, Air Max 90, Air BW, Air Trainer, Air Max 95, Air Max 97, Air Max 360 and now, Air Max 1 Quickstrike (QS).

Dressed in the either the original red or blue colourways, this is the Air Max 1 but re-crafted with a more responsive Phylon midsole, reduced outsole profile, re-engineered Air Max cushion and with a breathable mesh/fabric toebox and suede upper.

THE EVOLUTION OF A REVOLUTION

Tinker Hatfield shook the running world to its core with his Air Max 1 design in 1987. It was a revolutionary shoe that made its mark on history then and is doing so yet again today…

Introducing the iconic Air Max 1 re-crafted: the Air Maxim 1. This puppy has the same cheeky streak as the original but comes with a much greater bite: increased strength and durability with the Flywire integrated upper, a more responsive Phylon midsole, reduced outsole profile, re-engineered Air Max cushion, Nike Plus enabled (woo hoo!), Transpan fabric on toebox and 30% total weight reduction… of the original shoe, not you, obviously.

IAM1 PARIS IS NOTHING BUT FUN!

I don’t know much about France, but I do know two things. One: “Je dois aller faire de pee pee”. Yes, it’s about needing the loo and yes, the language is probably wrong. Two: The French seem to be having a whole lot of fun celebrating IAM1 with NSW. Even the likes of Colette, BRKW and Bread Butter are joining in. Check out the videos – you’ll see what I mean.
