DEBACLE GOES PUBLIC

Last week we ran a post on the Nike Skateboarding video, Debacle, shot entirely in High Definition by Jason Hernandez and Jon Humphries. Logistics dictate that the countrywide premieres be an invite only affair - an exclusiveness that did not lie easy with our all-round amiable nature.

So we’re happy to announce that the full video is now yours to watch and/or download at your convenience at Nike Skateboarding. And while you’re there, feel free help yourself to some generous extras.

AIR YEEZY: REPORT BACK

When the Air Yeezy finally dropped at the Gallery on 4th, its debut was celebrated with the (almost) equally anticipated Glow in the Dark Party.

For all those valiant Sneakerheads and dedicated party people who braved the nip in the air to attend, here’s Pop Bottles TV’s video of the event below. And for all of those not so lucky to make it, no need to feel all left out as presenter Eric Macheru takes you through the who, what and wonderful.

Of course, there are the party pics as well. Check them out at the flickr page.

THE BALLISTIC REPORT

One good thing about grey city sidewalks and bleak winter skies is that they form the perfect contrasting backdrop for the blazing beauty of the Ballistic Orange Blaze Dunk Hi.

The Dunk has proven itself again and again as an icon worthy of repeated revival, inspiring a range of variations that has kept Sneakerheads in high spirits for many years.

The Ballistic Orange Blaze Dunk Hi, the latest version to drop at Gallery on 4th, continues this proud tradition. It features a heavy duty Orange Blaze nylon with a 3M reflective weave throughout the upper and a Mandarin leather swoosh, finished off smoothly with a rounded light grey soft leather interior and a gum outsole. It also features a mud guard, separating the upper and the midsole.

These promise to be a firm street favourite, the perfect antidote to those winter blues.

FLUTTERING BY IN BUTTERFLIES

Walking on sunshine is so last season. The latest WMNS Nike Dunk Hi Skinny Supreme will have you floating on clouds of golden butterflies. More or less.

Just like the last Skinny Dunk to drop at Gallery on 4th, it is less bulky than the original Dunk and specifically tailored to fit the shape of a woman’s foot. The perfect partner for your leggings, skinny jeans and fearlessly feminine moments.

Its most striking features are a gorgeous butterfly pattern from French master textile designer, Paule Marrot, perfectly complimented by the Roman style tarnished gold leather of the upper, the heel, the swoosh, eyerow and toe wrap. The heel strap, side and toe box come in an off white canvas with gold and black butterfly patterns, all rounded off nicely with an iced outsole.

Come get it quick at Gallery on 4th.

TAKE A STREET SEAT

‘Beauty,’ says designer Sander van Heukelom, ‘is found in small things.’ And that is exactly where he found his inspiration for his solo exhibition in Amsterdam, The Artistry of the Cap, featuring a two piece chair collection called The New York Fat Cap Chair and the Hooded Fat Cap Chair.

They are cute, apparently quite comfy and the perfect conversation piece. But these chairs are more than original and ergonomically sound furniture– they are an expression of a particular way of looking at life and likely future symbols of a time when street culture ruled the sidewalks.

The spray can has been an integral part of Sander’s life since he first experimented with typographic design and graffiti as a teenager. Having now gained wide recognition for his paintings with spray can and resin, the chairs could be construed as a nod of acknowledgment to the humble - and too often unappreciated – little tool that made the street art movement possible.
