LADUUUUMA, LADS!

It’s official! Four wins in a row qualify as a winning streak in anyone’s book. Congratulations to Bafana Bafana on their brilliant victory over Cameroon last night - and especially to Teko Modise, star of the match and loyal Nike athlete (pictured below) who scored the first two of three glorious South African goals.

This latest victory added an extra glow of glory to their successive victories over Malawi, Equatorial Guinea and Ghana, reinforcing the renewed excitement in South African soccer and justifying the pre-match confidence of Benni McCarthy and Coach Joel Santana. Seems we can start looking forward to the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup - not to mention 2010!

CAPE TOWN UNDER ATTACK

An attack of street style and underground art, fuelled by the force of pure creativity, that is. Nike Sportswear collaborated with three of the mother city’s savviest shops to pay tribute to three of our most iconic products. As part of this initiative, Astore came up with a completely unique view on the legendary Dunk.

CROSSBREEDING LEGENDS

When two legends get together one kinda expects the result to be spectacular. The Nike Dunk Hi Vandal Premium does not disappoint.

vandal1.JPG

Nike took the classic Nike Dunk form and doused it in the spirit of the original Nike Vandal. The shoe uses gold and silver nylon material for its upper, and sports matching shoelaces and the bold Vandal tag for a thoroughly sleek look.

And we’ve got them at the Gallery on 4th!

HOW’S THIS HYBRID?

The Millerain Terminator High Premium is the result of Nike collaborating with the British Millerain co. on two exceptional Terminator Highs.

The set is based on the Millerain signature wax cotton – one of the highest quality of its kind - for the upper, and the gum soles should be a highlight for all gum fans out there. All of this plus the classic Terminator shape make for a rare and highly recognizable street animal.

Limited quantities in both of its two colour ways are now available at Gallery on 4th.

WHY D’YOU JUMP OVER CARS, MAN?

Basically, because he can. After much online hype, 22 year old Chris Bryant found mainstream fame after being featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Just goes to show – some of the most sensational Nike athletes can be found off the beaten track, so to speak.

Check out the video below. But please, don’t try this at home.

THE ULTIMATE CONTENDER

The Nike “Ultimate Glory” Dunk Hi ain’t meant for shy feet. In fact, it could be banned from boxing rings for distracting the opponent, and most likely the ref as well.

ultimate2.JPG

ultimateglory.JPG
It is named after an event that was similarly conspicuous in the boxing world: the famed 1996 “Ultimate Glory” boxing match between boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez and ‘Golden Boy’ Oscar De La Hoya. The shoe sports the names of both fighters on the heel, but the name of De La Hoya takes the favoured spot on the right as tribute to him taking on – and defeating – his hero.

But the best part about this shoe isn’t the story, the finishing touches or even the attitude. Nope. The best part is that it is available at Gallery on 4th - now.
